\nAsst. Prof. Masahiro Fukuoka<\/span><\/a><\/strong>
\n\u3000My name is Masahiro Fukuoka. I am pleased to have joined the Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology as an Assistant Professor, effective April 1st. After receiving my doctoral degree from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2024, I served as a researcher at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). My research focuses on Chip-Scale Atomic Clocks (CSACs), which are compact time and frequency standards. CSACs are high-precision, highly stable clocks capable of nanosecond-level time synchronization. By embedding these clocks into various devices, we can enable advanced coordinated operations across systems. Moving forward, I aim to advance my research to bring CSACs closer to a true IC size. I look forward to your guidance and to working with all of you.

\nAsst. Prof. Gen Hikosaka<\/span><\/a><\/strong>
\n\u3000I am Gen Hikosaka, a new Assistant Professor in Prof. Sone and Prof. Chang research group in the Advanced Materials Research Core of Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST) as April 1, 2026. I completed the doctoral program at this university in March 2026. My research field is physical metallurgy. During my doctoral studies, I conducted research aimed at clarifying the mechanisms of functional fatigue in shape memory alloys and improving their functional life. In particular, I focused on understanding the formation behavior of domain structures and lattice defects during diffusionless phase transformation processes. In the future, I plan to further develop this research while expanding it to a wider range of materials. By applying the theoretical framework of physical metallurgy and mechanics, numerical simulation techniques, and experimental methods for property evaluation and structural analysis that I have cultivated so far, I aim to elucidate deformation mechanisms and enhance mechanical properties of materials, thereby contributing to the development of society. I am glad and looking forward to working and collaborating with people from various fields.

\nAsst. Prof. Sometrey MEY<\/span><\/a><\/strong>
\n\u3000My name is Sometrey Mey. I have been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Multidisciplinary Resilience Research Center (MRRC), Institute of Integrated Research (IIR), as of April 1, 2026. Originally from Cambodia, I came to Japan in April 2015 and have since pursued my education through a Japanese language school, a National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), followed by undergraduate and graduate studies. I received my doctoral degree from the Institute of Science Tokyo in March 2026. My graduate research focused on scale effect on the low-cycle fatigue performance of steel beam-end connections in super high-rise buildings, based on full-scale experimental investigations. At the IIR, I will continue to advance research in steel structures while actively engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse fields.
